What equipment do I need to shoot at an airgun club?
The equipment you need depends on the airgun you decide to purchase. Different airguns operate in different ways but to cover some common types there are spring, pre-charge and CO2.
Spring airguns do not require a lot of equipment to operate as the power for the shot is stored in the spring when the gun is cocked. To shoot with a spring airgun you simply need the gun and some pellets in the correct caliber.
Pre-charge airguns require a pump or a bottle to fill them with compressed air as the power for the shot comes from air that is pre compressed in a cylinder that is part of the airgun. The compressed air usually lasts for 50+ shots before the cylinder needs recharging with air. The pump option to charge the airgun requires you to work the pump manually to its required pressure, where the option of a bottle allows you to charge the airgun from another source of compressed air. The bottle will charge the airgun multiple times before it needs re-charging.
CO2 airguns require a capsule of compressed CO2 to power the shot which is inserted into the airgun. Each capsule will last for approximately 60 shots and are purchased in boxes, once a capsule is empty it cannot be recharged and is disposed of.
The only other equipment that is advisable is oil and other maintenance materials to keep your airgun in working order.
